Allegory Of The Cave, By Dick Gregory s Shame And...

When discussing reality, several questions emerge regarding what reality is. A reality, the real situation that exist, (Merriam-Webster.com) consists of two forms-perceived reality and actual reality. One spends his or her entire life trying to decipher the difference between the two forms; yet to truly understand reality, it is essential that you comprehend both. Plato s Allegory of the Cave, Dick Gregory s Shame and Frederick Douglass Learning to Read and Write illustrate examples of both perceptions. Furthermore, how conceptualization of reality helps establish who one will become. Perceived reality is one s interpretation of what is genuine and false, wrong and right, what is real and what is not. Because of this, one s surroundings and associates can also influence one s perception of what is authentic; consequently, one s belief in perceived truth can be distorted. The depiction of a physical world filled with misrepresented and inadequate images of existence, in Allegory of the Cave, confirms this assertion. Shadows symbolize fact and those who were chained consider nothing besides the artifacts as the unhidden (Plato). Similarly to Plato, Gregory s Shame, portrays his teacher s assumptions that he was stupid, couldn t spell, couldn t read, and couldn t do arithmetic (Shame 5). She regarded him as ignorant, based solely on his inability to concentrate in class or sit still. Gregory also describes his obliviousness of shames existence.

Qualitative Research : Quantitative Research Essay Qualitative Research Research is conducted daily, whether the research is conducted and carried out through that of qualitative research or quantitative research. Strongly the type of research in which is used tends to depend on the researchers purpose, with strong regards to the type of information in which the researcher is seeking to find. Qualitative research however strongly focuses on the descriptions and the deeper meaning, which can be associated with that of data collection. With regards to qualitative research there can be many definitions to describe the actual meaning of this type of research, but strongly one needs to understand the basic concepts associated with that of qualitative research. One needs to look deeply as to how it is defined, who uses this type of research, the types of research in which exists with that of qualitative research, how one can gather data and overall how it can strongly relate to that of the findings in which exist for that of qualitative re search. What is Qualitative Research?Qualitative research often looks to answer the whys and the hows of human behaviour, the opinions in which people are comforted with and also the experiences they have encountered. Qualitative research tends to be finding out not only just what people think, but also why they think. It inclines to get individuals and participants to talk about their own opinions so that researchers can develop a deep understanding of feelings, thoughts and motives. From this it strongly gets participants to be strongly invested in their thoughts, in order to get them to think and reason. With regards to that of qualitative research there can be many definitions in which exist, all expressing their own view upon how qualitative r. . of the research or the purpose of the study. It does not make sense to include large portions of an interview in a research paper since it is not necessary due to constraints. This strongly demonstrates that validity can always be questioned, but it does lie in the fact that no matter what research is conducted weather it qualitative or quantitative, there can always be reason and thoughts to why a study might be not be considered fully valid. With regards to that of qualitative research it can be commonly found that findings can not be generalized to a larger population, but they can be thought about and replicated. No matter the validity, there can always be concerns that will exist will all types of studies, but the strongest basis that can exist is when the researcher can have strong influence on the results, which overall can cause for a basis to exist overall.

Question: Describe about the Team roles at work for Motivation and disposition? Answer: Organization Behavior Case Overview I am appointed as the new store manager of a supermarket of ASDA in Ireland. Here I will display my knowledge of different organizational cultures and structures by drawing important theory from staff members. These staff members belong to different racial and cultural background, which needs decision-making style and teamwork that will help achieve the long run and short run goals. The companys BOD and CEO assign me this new post based on my previous achievements in the Mini supermarket in ASDA in London. I will also apply various motivational theories and management styles to achieve the best results for the activities of our company. In the case analysis, the four important theories we will focus are, understanding the relationship between organizational culture and structure, various management approaches, motivational theories used in the organization and mechanisms required to develop effective organizational teamwork (Hellriegel Slocum, 2011). Understanding the relationship between organizational culture and structure- The difference between ASDAs organizational culture and structures in England and Ireland can be analyzed with context to its relationship between its organizational culture and structure. Organizational Structure of any country encompasses its leadership, culture, internal and external environment, etc. Like, every other company ASDA also has an organizational structure, which could be either informal or formal. The organizational structure of the company should provide its organizational hierarchy layout and command chain. The organizational structure of ASDA England and ASDA Ireland are quite similar and both have formal organizational structure with strict regulations and rules. ASDA London has a formalized hierarchical structure with a clear control chain and proper line of execution control (Hitt, Miller Colella, 2011). In ASDA London, the employees can report to different people as it has multiple decision stage and command level. The hierarchical level is very effective in a diversified and huge company like ASDA. However, the problem the employees in ASDA London face is as they work together they are in the same footing irrespective of their seniority. The employees both old and new are provided with a competitive salary package, which ultimately help in developing efficiency. On the other hand, ASDA Ireland supermarket focuses on strict adherence to official structures and standards. The management in ASDA Ireland is trying to exercise an environment where dynamic decision can be taken. They are trying to reduce the organizational layers between its chief executives and the store managers like us. Unlike, ASDA England, it is relying more on using a combination of both formal and informal organizational structure. The organizational culture of ASDA England and Ireland is quite similar, where ASDA England aims- To give excellent service to its customers To maintain integrity To ensure customer satisfaction On the other hand, ASDA Ireland aims- To improve the customer base To maintain standards in the organization To meet the customer demands and needs To carry out fair deals (McShane Von Glinow, 2012) The relationship between ASDAs structure and culture can influence the performance of its Irish site in following ways- Employees behavior is dependent directly on the organizational structure- Being the store manager if I m not satisfied with the workforce performance then it is necessary to report it to the top management who in turn will evaluate the organizational structure. Stronger organizational structure results in better organizational performance- Good organizational structure helps in the empowerment of the store manager who ensure employee motivation and better workforce performance (Moorhead Griffin, 2012). Strong organizational culture results to higher performance- ASDA is one of the biggest company in the world, which encounter huge market competition. Thus, it requires a service oriented and strong culture in the organization, which can support it is customer management. Cultural diversity in its workforce and its importance- The diversity in its workforce can be a challenge for the store manager. However, effective management can help the employees trusting each other, proactive behaviors and risk taking the attitude to create an adaptive culture (Robbins Judge, 2011). Three factors that can influence individual behaviour in the workplace at the Irish ASDA are- Maintaining job security- The employees of the organization want proper job security. If the employees have proper job security, then they tend to perform effectively to get the desired objectives and goals. The workforce of ASDA belongs from the different culture, caste and creed with individual thoughts and mentalities. Therefore, it is important to understand the employees' requirements and maintain it. A satisfied workforce supported with a comfortable work environment help in fulfilling the organizational goals. Pay rates- The lucrative pay structure of the company influences its workforce behavior by pushing them to be competitive and enhance their performance (Schermerhorn, 2012). Understanding different management approaches- The effectiveness of the three leadership styles is explained in the context of ASDA and British Airways. The three types of leadership styles are Autocratic, Laissez-Faire and Democratic. Autocratic leadership is defined as the type of leadership style where the leaders will take all the decisions without any consultation with others. The Democratic leadership is defined as the type of style where the leaders consult with the employees and then take the final decision. Laissez-Faire Leadership is defined as the type of style where the involvements of the leaders are reduced to the least with respect to decision-making. In case of ASDA, the main function of the leaders is to provide a superior and unique service to the customers and make the organization a friendly place to work. The CEO of ASDA, Andy Clarke focus on certain things like- Provide equal opportunity to employees to show their quality with effective leadership quality. Maintain a caring and empathetic relationship with the employees. Maintain proper communication to each level of the company, which includes the senior managers, store managers, and employees. In ASDA, the top management applies democratic leadership style. In British Airways, the top management previously used an autocratic leadership style, which restricted its performance. However, the CEO, Keith Williams changed its previously used leadership style to a new and democratic approach (Burns, 2012). Some of the management practices used in Irish ASDA is- Organizational theories use the management practices for the Irish ASDA in following ways- Webers bureaucratic theory Scientific theories to management Administrative practice The management of ASDA Ireland used the administrative theory. The administrative theory is based on several key management principles. The four key principles of the administrative theory are- Using the administrative theory, ASDA Ireland has applied its principles effectively. It will start with developing an effective plan as per the organizational objectives. As per the plan, all the organizational functions are carried out. The success of the organizational plan largely depends on how effectively it is being executed by the concerned leadership. Finally, control is being made to evaluate the significance of the management principles (Collinson, Grint Jackson, 2011). Four different management approaches used in three organizations are- Classical Approach- This kind of approach emphasizes on the structural functions and factors to achieve the desired objectives of the organization. The four key factors of this approach are the labour division, functional and scalar processes like command unity, command chain, authority delegation, etc., structure staff and control span. This kind of approach uses the autocratic leadership style. Neo-Traditional Approach- This kind of approach focuses on movements of human relations and behavioural approach. It mainly studies motives, group, intergroup behaviours and supervision. It clearly specifies that activities coordination is difficult to have without proper employee cooperation (Kellerman, 2012). Scientific Approach- This kind of approach focuses on utilizing techniques and methods such as sociology, social psychology, psychology, and anthropology. All these techniques will help the management get things done by the employees and develop the interpersonal skills of the employees with themselves and with the management. It uses the motivation, group relations, individual drives, etc. Modern Organizational Approach- This kind of approach focuses on defining the organization as the system, and the environmental impact on the organizational effectiveness is considered (Maeda Bermont, 2011). Considering three companies ASDA, BP, and British Airways, it can be said that all three British companies use three different management approaches that are- ASDA use a combination of traditional and neo-traditional approach, which will help, develop proper coordination between the employees and guide them to achieve the organizational objectives. BP, on the other hand, uses the modern organizational approach. BP is the second best company in UK. It uses the modern organizational approach, which have helped in developing coordination and cooperation in the company, adapt to any technological changes and adjust its resources as per the market demands. British Airways used the scientific approach where with effective techniques like motivation, group relations, individual drives, leadership, etc. the company has utilized its human resource successfully (Powell Koltz, 2012). The two different management approaches are- Neo-Traditional Approach- This kind of approach propagates organizational structure that is people oriented and will integrate formal and informal organizations. This kind of approach has two factors, which are work group and individual. This will help develop interpersonal relations between the employees and the management. The neo-traditional approach emphasized on informal leadership to the certain extent, developed leadership, coordination theory, and motivational theory to solve the managerial problems. Modern Organizational Approach- This kind of approach is subdivided into three different approaches, which are- Contingency approach- It involves in the analyzing the methods that the company can adapt with respect to the technological changes, the uncertainty of decision-making and requirements for innovation. Systems approach- It defines the organization as an open system, which consists of interdependent and interrelated elements. Some of its features are adaptability, the importance of the human values, coordination and integration of all the subsystems in a total system, etc. Multivariate approach- This kind of approach focuses on basic business, its structure that involves workflow, authority system and communication, technological factors and its workforce and behaviour (Reed Signorelli, 2011). The impact of different leadership styles on motivation in organisations are- In ASDA, the business process can be re-engineered as per the incremental or technological changes, which depend on the organizational situations, and needs, which can be managed with good leadership. Leadership is comparatively difficult from management this is because leadership mainly focuses on the way a good leader lead its people to achieve the organizational goals whereas a manager focus on achieving the activities of the organization. Some of the approaches followed by leaders of ASDA during any managerial changes are- Instances when the staffs of the company oppose to any new organizational changes then it is necessary for the leaders to use autocratic style, take firm decisions, and direct the workforce accordingly. During any change in the company, the leaders can use the consultative approach, involve its workforce in the managerial process by clearly explaining the changes, and seek their ideas and opinions on it. Finally, the company can assign the right duties to the right people and use a teamwork approach. Each of the team members will not only understand the changes but also adjust to the changes to achieve the organizational goals (Brahier Speer, 2011). Motivational theories used in ASDA are- Motivation can be defined as the managerial function where the leader or manager motivates its employees to perform in the best way possible. There are several motivational theories, which the company can use, which are- XY theory of McGregor- This theory uses both the authoritative and participative style. In theory X, the employees avoid working, take any responsibility as much as possible, and thus are subjected to punishment threats. As per theory Y, employees will work effectively, without any external control. They are committed to the organization and take responsibility for solving the organizational problems and achieving organizational success. As per the XY theory, leadership of ASDA should focus on motivating the X employees but it is not true because the Y employee also requires motivation (Davidson, 2011). Maslows Needs Hierarchy- It ensures in fulfilling all the needs of the employees based on its requirements. Maslows hierarchy model starts with psychological, safety needs and goes on to higher needs like social and esteem needs. Finally, the self-realization needs are fulfilled. ASDA leadership in motivating the employees also uses this (Leontiev, 2012). Vroom's Theory of Expectancy- Along with the Maslow's theory, ASDA can also use the Vroom's theory. Vroom s theory focuses on the simple fact that if the employees put more efforts in their performance then it will improve and on better performance they are rewarded with bonuses and incentives on their performance (Maeda Bermont, 2011). Usefulness of a motivation theory for store managers of the ASDA Ireland- It is the store managers duty to achieve the organizational objectives and goals. The manager can increase the organizational productivity by increasing the productivity of the employees. To get more productive workforce the manager need to motivate them continuously. The manager can do this by applying all the three motivational theorize discussed. As per the McGregor's theory, employees are differentiated s per their work commitment and responsibility-seeking attitude (Maehr, 2012). Employees, who are lazy, avoid responsibility and require control is needed to be motivated. In addition, the responsible and committed employees should be motivated to perform better. Then the manager can use the Maslows theory where the employees will be motivated to fulfil all their needs as per the Maslow's hierarchy theory. In ASDA Ireland, I being the store manager will apply the Maslow's theory as well as the Vroom's Expectancy theory. The Vroom's theory explains that the employees' expectation r esulted in better performance and expected performance results to better outcomes. In simple language, the employees expect to get better rewards for better performance (McInerney, Walker Liem, 2011). Group nature and group behaviour in ASDA- Groups are formed in the organization to attain specific results. The group's members have pre-determined purposes and specified tasks. Like every other organization, ASDA also has two different groups, which are formal and informal group- Formal Group- It is the type of group, which are formed by the organization. It can be formed with the objective to fulfill specified task. This kind of groups is created by the organization where every group member work together to achieve the organizational goals. The group member has fixed responsibilities and roles to fulfill in the group. The formal group is further subdivided into command group and task group. Command group is the type of group, which is fixed in the organization, and task group are temporary in nature. Task group is developed by the organization with the objective to fulfill certain specific tasks within a fixed time (Belbin, 2010). Informal Group- As compared to formal groups, informal groups have the greater impact on the performance of the organization. Informal groups are the type of groups, which are not formed by the organization but are formed using friendship and sharing of similar interests between the team members. Informal groups can be divided into two different groups, which are interest group and friendship group. An interest group is the type of group where employees from different departments share the same interest like sports and politics. Friendship groups are the groups between the group members who are from same age group, a certain type of belief and attitude. Using the informal groups more, manager of ASDA can ensure the betterment of its organizational structure and improve its business. It helps in developing the work culture of the organization and its performance (Bostock, 2012). Factors that influence the development of effective teamwork in ASDA- To develop teamwork in Irish ASDA, the manager needs to categorize certain factors- Maintain open and clear communication between the team members to share information, ask anything and give suggestions and ideas in the company. Develop trust between each member of the team, which will help ASDA take important decisions and promote the new business strategy. It will help the employees share their knowledge and information with each other, which results in organizational success. The company should utilize its diverse workforce effectively. People from the different religion, age, ethnicity, gender and region will bring in new ideas. Thus, a diverse workforce will help in generating innovative and creative ideas (Hawkins, 2011). The team should be provided with a perfect leader who will guide the entire team to achieve the pre-set goals. A good leader can coordinate the employees, handle their problems and resolve them effectively. The success of the team is largely dependent on its attitude. Thus, to achieve the goals, it is necessary for each member of the team to have an optimistic attitude to their task. This will help them remain upbeat about the task assigned to them and put the best effort to complete the task on time. Each member should be provided with proper development and training to understand the work assigned to them, and the functions that are needed to be carried out by them (Roper, 2011). Impact of technological change on team functioning in Irish ASDA- ASDA is using technology to carry out all its activities and thus being the store manager, I should use the technology effectively to improve the productivity. With proper training on the technological changes, our team can be developed and equipped. It can be done by understanding each of our team members and explaining them the benefits of using new technology in our productivity process. It will help us promote trust, coordination, cooperation, team structure, leadership, etc (Wendt, Quist Lloyd, 2011). Conclusion: The organizational cultures and structures of the organization are compared and contrasted with the assessment. The relationship of ASDA's organizational structure and its culture and its effect on the organizational activities are explained. The three factors, which can influence the individual behavior in ASDA's workplace, are discussed. The effectiveness of the leadership styles used by the companies and use of organizational theory in ASDA is explained. Different management approaches are evaluated and justified. Then the concept of various leadership styles, various motivational theories, and its usefulness in ASDA Irish are evaluated. When you wanted to talk to someone, you went to him or her, or gave them a phone call. That was our way of interacting with people in our culture back then. Quickly looking if Eric has posted something this night on Twitter. Hoping that Monica isnt doing something this evening, although she often sends messages to that guy on Facebook. Or shall I talk to Amber on Facebook chat? She likes all my pictures, maybe she fancies me? This is a more modern approach which we would use nowadays. Just compare the two examples, and you see the big difference. Or we give them a quick message on MSN or Whatsapp. This leads to less real-life or physical contact. This could be seen in a negative and in a positive way. The real connection such as visual and emotional expressions arent shown anymore, because you both look at a computerized display. This way messages could be understood differently than they should be, because they dont get to know the real meaning behind the message. Social media can create a gap between generations. The majority of social media users are teenagers or young adults. People who are for example 50 years or older do have trouble to keep updated with all modern technology like computers, not even mentioning the social media use on these computers. When there was no internet, words that were said would just be forgotten after a certain time, and people couldnt copy it. Now with social media, messages can be copied, duplicated and spread so easily that you really have to be careful with what you say. Your privacy can also be put to the test by showing and sharing all the things you do. People know what you are doing, where you are and what your status is. So called leaking info can also be dangerous. For example in important negations or other meetings, there have been multiple people who accidentally leaked important and secret information which were shown in such meetings. There are other things important too for our culture. Our very own Dutch language for example. Its used less and less on social media. This is due to the globalization and English being used more and more often as an lingua franca. There are multiple reasons for this: English sounds a lot cooler than some Dutch words. Some jokes are only funny in English or you have an audience in mind that doesnt speak your language, but who do speak English. Social media is not only negative. On the other hand contact is made easier, because you have a sort of safety behind your computer or mobile phone. Nobody sees you. You can act out who you want (remember though: this can be deceiving too). You also make contact easier via social media. Many people prefer a message via internet on e.g. Facebook or Twitter than giving them a call or go by and visit them. People are usually more shy in public. Therefore you can say that there could be more social interaction between people, and a reason for that contact is made easier than before. Social media invites people to write more messages, updates or other messaging. You have to keep updated by reading your friends updates, but you have to post what you are doing too; making dinner, going to the beach or just going to sleep. Hydrocarbons are released when fuel in the engine burns partially. When hydrocarbons come in contact with sunlight they form ground level ozone. Ground level ozone is a major ingredient in the formation of smog. Ground level ozone is responsible for irritating eyes, damaging lungs, and it complicating respiratory problems. Hydrocarbons aren't the only pollutants released through car exhaust. Two more pollutants released through car exhaust are carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide. Example 2 â€Å"John† is seventeen from a low wage, single parent family. He has a part-time job while studying to help out his mother financially. Unfortunately the Manager undermines, bullies him and takes credit for his work. â€Å"John† who is not used to dealing with difficult people in a working environment, may become withdrawn and quiet. He may keep his feelings towards his Manager to himself as he is afraid that he might lose his job that he desperately needs. Emotionally he feels depressed and unworthy. He is seen as ‘the man of the house’ and feels he cannot communicate his problems to his mother as he doesn’t want her to have the added pressure of dealing with his problem. His studying may also suffer as he worries about his mother’s financial situation and also his situation at work. Socially he has withdrawn from his friends as they may realise something is wrong is embarrassed to talk to them about it. Intellectually, his studies would have suffered as a result of his manager bullying and undermining him as he cannot concentrate.

The 49 Techniques from Teach Like a Champion The 49 Techniques first came to our attention in a March 7, 2010 article in the New York Times Magazine entitled Can Good Teaching Be Learned? The story focused on the book Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov. Having taught with mixed success in inner-city Philadelphia, some of us recognized the efficacy of the techniques, even in tough to handle classrooms. This article brings links to some of the blogs we found useful regarding this topic. Setting High Academic Expectations Technique One: No Opt Out. Teachers with high expectations dont accept I dont know, but expect students to be engaged and give it a shot.Technique Two: Right is Right. This technique accepts no half-answers but asks for complete and correct answers to questions.Technique Three: Stretch It. This technique pushes a teacher to take correct answers and ask students to add depth or nuance to their answers.Technique Four: Format Matters. High expectations also means only accepting students answers in complete sentence with good grammar.Technique Five: No Apologies. Teachers with high expectations dont apologize for what they teach. An exit ticket is a quick formative assessment of the lesson your students just finished.Technique 21: Take a Stand. This technique encourages students to have opinions and to take stands on those opinions. Engaging Students in your Lesson Technique 22: Cold Calls. Like the sales technique, the teacher asks someone who is unsuspecting for an answer. It avoids opting out, and keeps all your students on their toes.Technique 23: Call and Response. This technique uses a tradition from African American hymnody and creates a way that the whole class can participate in questioningTechnique 24: Pepper. Like a coach lobbing balls to his fielders, a teacher can pepper his or her students with fast-paced questions, which makes it fun and keeps students on their toes.Technique 25: Wait Time. Teachers are too often too impatient, and provide an answer to their own question when no student pops a hand up. On the other hand, teachers also dont give students time to shape a complete, thoughtful response to a question.Technique 26: Everybody Writes. What goes on the board needs to go in the notebooks.Technique 27: Vegas. Nothing like a little glitz to liven up classroom instruction! Creating a Strong Classroom Culture Technique 28: Entry Routine. Having a structured entry routine expedites the beginning of instruction.Technique 29: Do Now. Familiar to elementary teachers and devotees of Harry Wong as bell work, Do Nows are brief academic tasks to review the previous days work or to introduce the days new work.Technique 30: Tight Transitions. Transitions need to be scripted and rehearsed, so little time is wasted between instructional activities.Technique 32: SLANT. SLANT is an acronym for what excellent attention behavior looks like.Technique 33: On Your Mark. Coaches expect athletes to be ready to engage in their sport. In the same way, a teacher shows students what they need to be on their mark.Technique 34: Seat Signals. Simple hand signals simplify requesting routine interruptions, such as using a bathroom or getting a pencil, can eliminate some of the waste of time that plague instruction.Technique 35: Props. In Teach Like a Champion, parlance, props are fun routines the class does together t o support the success of their peers. Building and Maintaining High Behavioral Expectations Technique 36: 100 Percent. Champion teachers dont create unreasonable behavioral expectations, because their final expectation is that everyone conforms all (100%) of the time.Technique 37: What to Do. Be sure, if you are asking for compliance, that you have been very explicit in explaining what it is you want your students To Do.Technique 38: Strong Voice Part One and Part Two. This technique, strong voice, is one that separates the really effective teacher from the adequate. Its in two parts so you understand its use and how to acquire it. When students fail to meet your standards, you ask them to Do it again. They model the appropriate behavior but are eager not to have to do it again.Technique 40: Sweat the Details. Building on the broken window theory of policing, Lemov notes that maintaining high standards will have positive effects across the classroom environment.Technique 41: Threshold. This threshold is the one at the door. By meeting and greeting students as they enter you can set the tone for your class.Technique 42: No Warnings. Responding early and proportionately can help you avoid real crises. So rather than giving warning, you mete out consequences when the behavior is still only a minor problem. Building Character and Trust Technique 43 Part 1: Positive Framing. Positive Framing means casting things in a way that is positive and leads to appropriate behavior. This blog starts with three strategies to help you frame it positively.Technique 43 Part 2. Three more strategies for framing classroom experiences positively.Technique 44: Precise Praise. Rather than cheap praise, precise praise is valued by students because it describes what it is you are pleased with.Technique 45: Warm and Strict. It may seem that warm and strict are contradictory, but effective teachers can be both at the same time.Technique 46: The J Factor. The J in J factor stands for Joy. This technique offers ideas to help your students experience the Joy!Technique 47: Emotional Constancy. How to Make Changes to Your MCAT Registration When you choose an MCAT test date, pay the registration fees, and complete your MCAT registration, you never figure that you may have to make a change. However, when it comes to your MCAT registration, you can certainly make changes if life doesnt work out according to your carefully made plans. Read on for ways to change your test center, change your test date or time, or cancel your MCAT registration. Change Your MCAT Test Center, Test Time or Test Date Shifting your test center or registering for a different test date or time isnt really all that difficult, providing there is space at the new center where youd like to test and availability on the dates youve provided. And there are benefits to changing multiple things at once if you need to change your test center and test date, for instance. If you change them separately, youll be charged a rescheduling fee twice. Change them together and youll only be charged once. There are a few caveats, though: You must make a change prior to the Silver Zone registration deadline for the exam for which youre currently registered.You cant change your test date before registration has opened for the new exam date as no special permissions or privileges are granted in registration order to previously registered testers.Rescheduling into an exam date that is within the Bronze Zone will cost you an additional $50. This fee is the difference between the initial Silver Zone registration fee ($275) and the initial Bronze Zone registration fee ($325). Cancel Your MCAT Registration Lets say youre called away on military duty. Or, heaven forbid, theres a death in your immediate family. Or, youve decided that you dont want to take the MCAT on your registered date and youre not sure when (or if!) youd like to register again. What can you do? If theres no emergency- youd just like to cancel for your own personal reasons- then here are the details: You must cancel before the end of the Gold Zone registration deadline in order to receive a partial refund- $135 for standard testers and $50 for FAP recipients.If you cancel after the Gold Zone registration deadline, you will not receive a refund at all! So youd better make sure youd really like to cancel.If you decide to register for a new test date in the same calendar year in which youve canceled, then youll have to pay the entire registration fee again, along with a rescheduling fee, which is nonrefundable. If youve experienced a crisis like being hospitalized or having a death in the family OR youre called away on military duty or to help medically in a catastrophic event, then you can receive a maximum of $135 no matter when the cancellation occurs. If youre a FAP recipient, youll receive a $50 cancellation reimbursement. The transformation comes about through a series events, the most important of which is the contact with the people and culture of Lhasa, where Heinrich and his friend Peter -after having endured hardships like being in a P.O.W. camp, traveling on foot for hundreds of miles in severe weather conditions, injuries and frostbite- are accepted into the home of a high government official. The draw of the Tibetan culture and the Holy City is so strong that Heinrich and Peter decide to stay there, and Peter even ends up marrying the town seamstress or â€Å"tailor,† as she so unequivocally points out, after both men compete for her affections and Peter ends up winning. They come to refer to the city as Paradise, and indeed after the invasion of the Chinese under the command of Mao Tse Tung, one has a definite feeling of Paradise lost. The remoteness and mystery of the city are a key part of the movie, and appear to be part of the director’s intention of showing Tibet as an almost otherworldly place with a moral fiber that most people can only hope to aspire to, a place of true holiness, and not just a rigidity based on routines and rituals with no real substance to it.

Consider all the characters in the play who are likely to be involved. Form your own conclusion from evidence, and use six characters minimum. I am going to write an essay about who I think is the most responsible for Eddie Carbones death. I will also say whether I think Marco is the most responsible. I will talk about the different characters, and say what I think makes them responsible/not responsible for his death. Then I will give my conclusion as to whom I think is the most responsible. The characters that I am going to use for my essay are Marco, Eddie, Rodolfo, Alfieri, Catherine and Beatrice and I will write about them in that order. In the beginning Marco was a very nice man. He did not want to put Eddie and Beatrice out, and was always very friendly with them. There was never much conflict between himself and Eddie, they would talk about his family and how he was going to help his children get better. This is illustrated when Beatrice asks Marco if his wife is getting the money ok, and he replies Oh, yes. She bought medicine for my boy. Also when they are talking about money in the beginning, Marco is very eager to send his wife as much money as he can, as soon as possible. He says Because I could send them a little more if I stay here and, I want to send right away maybe twenty dollars. This shows Marco is a very caring man, and wants the best for his wife and children. Then, Eddie started to become jealous of Rodolfo and when they were talking about Marcos family it lead to respecting women, and it was like Eddie was trying to warn Rodolfo away from Catherine. Eddie starts to become very jealous and angry now, and says to Rodolfo, It aint so free here either Rodolfo, like you think Then Rodolfo tells him he does respect her and Eddie starts to talk about just taking away girls. Eddie says I know, but in your town you wouldnt just drag off some girl without permission, I mean (he turns) you know what I mean Marco? Marco replies (cautiously) yes. It was after this that things started to change between them. Eddie tried to teach Rodolfo how to box, but ended up hitting him too hard. Marco then showed Eddie that he could be strong too, by testing his strength: He kneels, grasps and with strain slowly raises the chair higher and higher. Eddies grin vanishes as he absorbs his look. Eddie couldnt lift the chair but Marco could, this was showing Eddie that he (Marco) could be twice as strong as him, and was like saying I can be strong too, Im warning you I also think this was like telling Eddie that, if he wanted to fight Rodolfo, then he would have to fight him as well. I dont think Marco is exactly to blame for Eddies death, because Eddie should have been warned and left it at that. Instead he went to the immigration service. Marco was right to be furious at Eddie who wouldnt be? He was trying to help his family to get better, and wanted them to have a better life, and now all this would go to waste. Then when Eddie brought the knife out and was about to use it on Marco I think it was an act of self-defence when Marco turned the knife around. Eddie went down with the blow of Marco punching him on the neck (because he lunged for him), and then just as Marco is about to stomp on him he brings out the knife. Eddie lunges with the knife. Marco grabs his arm, turning the blade inward and pressing it home Eddie was over-protective towards Catherine right from the start. When she wanted to go ahead with the job her principle had told her to try for he tried to stop her from going a sign that he didnt want her to leave, in case she liked it and wanted to start her own life. Eddie tells Catherine she is walking wavy This shows Eddies concern extends to the way Catherine walks. When Marco and Rodolfo came to stay, things just went from bad to worse. Eddie started being suspicious of Catherine and Rodolfo all the time, and would have a go at Rodolfo. Eddie says I know, but you wouldnt just drag off some girl without permission Eddie is accusing Rodolfo of dragging Catherine off without his permission, and saying he has no respect in for women in doing this. I think Eddie is to blame for his own death, because if he hadnt been so over-protective and jealous none of this would have happened. Another time Louis and Mike ask Eddie if he would like to go bowling with them, but he says no, hes expected at home.

The store manager is responsible for the performance measures in his store: sales, stock loss, labour cost, customer service and Licence to Trade (Health & Safety and Food Quality). The Store Manager is also responsible for managing and developing their team of Duty Managers. Ben Adams does not actually talk to any customers because his job is to tell his customer services team how to make there customers happy. Not only does Ben Adams have to make all the customers happy but he also has to try and make a sale and that is why Ben Adams also has to try and get his team to make a sale. Like all of the other managers Ben Adams takes his orders from Gary Hall and he has to do his best to complete the jobs that Gary Hall assigns for him. Assistants or support staff These are people who support the internal working of the organisation and who perform support tasks for managers.
